Taking its title from an obscure paranormal hypothesis, Stone Tape Theory is a live durational thought experiment, mediated through analogue sound. Present in the space throughout, Sarah-Jane Norman will verbalise a chain of associative memories, recorded live, producing a wash of increasingly complex loops and distortions. Stone Tape Theory continues the artist’s long-term investigation of memory, trauma, biography and identity. Presented in association with TARNANTHI | Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia.
