This solo, contemporary dance work explores the persona and characters of singer, actress, icon, and ultimate pop chameleon, Cher.
Cher breaks convention, challenges the system and somehow remains a constant.
Larissa Mc Gowan’s Cher is an examination into entertainment and identity through one of the worlds most popular proponents of the form, Cher. After tackling the Alien vs Predator franchise in Sydney Dance Company’s “Fanatic” the ongoing and genre breaking collaboration between Mc Gowan, Sam Haren and Steve Mayhew now asks are we letting Cher entertain us or are we entertaining her?
Cher will be an inspired mash-up of gender, power and popular culture; a self-discovery of epic proportions; a headfirst dive into the artist’s path to reinvention.
Cher will be a part of Physical Forces – ACE OPEN’S three days of genre-bending dance programs.
